Rural week: Segamat

The trip to Segamat was actually fun. I was expecting it to be really boring. Visited the Community clinic, Poly Clinic and the Hospital as well as the District Health Office in Segamat. I'll let the photos do the talking this time.

Doesn't it look like some deserted town?

The weather there is SLIGHTLY better than KL. Most probably coz it's not that urbanized yet. Back to classes on Monday again!

Procrastination

Life of a med student I

I'm currently trying to study for the mid semester exam. But I keep on doing other random stuff. Which is not helping at all. I need to find a way to be more focused. Other than that, I have an assignment that's due in 2 or 3 weeks. And I haven't started on it yet.

I think I'm sort of looking forward to the Rural week where we'll be spending a week in Segamat.

MH vs SQ

I can't honestly remember exactly how well the services on Malaysia Airlines flights MH188 and MH189 were. Coz they were there a couple of years ago. I know for sure that the flights we have right now from Kuala Lumpur to Malé and vice versa are actually worse. I haven't gone back to Malé via Malaysia Airlines in quite some time. But I went back last weekend. The cheapest fare; aka the "best deal" was for RM 2143. They have the MH177/MH176 operating right now. If I'm not mistaken, it's a Boeing 737. The same sized flight is used for domestic flights here. I wasn't expecting something fancy. But I wasn't expecting to nearly die inside the flight either. If you're claustrophobic, you'd most probably die on the flight. Not to mention how hot it actually is! Kinda hard to imagine sweating while the flight is cruising at altitudes of several thousand metres.

So really, I'd suggest to anyone who is flying from Kuala Lumpur to Malé or vice versa to fly via Singapore Airlines. True, it's roughly RM 300 - RM 400 expensive and you have to transit in Changi International. But atleast you know that you're paying for it and you get an adequate level of comfort for that price range. Even as I say this, I know a lot of people staying in Singapore who fly via Malaysia Airlines to go back to Malé. It really baffles me. Each to his own views I guess.

Boredom

I'm seriously going to go crazy from boredom. Exam ended on the 14th. So I've been sleeping lots. But even sleeping that much gets boring after a while. And the fact that I'm broke right now doesn't help either. I miss uni. I think I should start studying or something. Or think about things to blog. Seriously, HOW on Earth do people blog regularly? :\

Randomness

I've been having a constant headache for the past month and it just never seems to go away completely. Part of me keeps thinking that I'm imagining the headache coz we covered a bit on migraines in class this semester >_<

Today, or rather yesterday was the last day for this semester. 12 more days for the final exam. I still can't believe the fact that this exam weighs less than the assignment I handed in few weeks ago. The exam is just 5%. But yeah, when everything adds up each and everything counts.

I can't remember whether I've mentioned this here or not. But, on my way home from uni everyday, I pass the Empire Shopping Gallery. The place looks really beautiful at night from the outside. You can see it on the right side. But this photo was taken in the evening and its quite blurry.

I'm still alive!

*sweeps the dust bunnies using a virtual brush*

I know, it has been THAT long since I updated. Usually I keep telling myself that I'll update with something random every weekend. But it never happens. And I do end up feeling guilty even though I'm not supposed to.

I think the previous post was some time during the early days of the semester. Now it has almost come to an end and I can't believe how fast time has flown. It feels just like yesterday that I went for the first class.

I went to 1U to buy coffee yesterday and parked in the open area. When I came out it was raining heavily. And I walked to the car. The scent of fresh rain is electrifying. I honestly can't remember the last time I actually got soaked in the rain. It was fun yesterday. That carefree feeling. And for a split second I felt as if I was a little kid again.

If you haven't already tried Starbucks ice cream, you must! It's heavenly! You can get a one pint (almost half a liter) tub for RM 20++ from Cold Storage. But it doesn't top Ben & Jerry's.

Unlucky day

Last Friday was one of the worst days in the history of worst days. For me atleast. I spent most part of Thursday in uni. It was past 10pm when I reached home that night and I had a class at 9am on Friday. For starters, I didn't wake up on time. On the way to uni, my car broke down at a traffic light. Had to stay there for nearly an hour till the reapir person came. I reached uni and then realized that I didn't have my student ID. I need the ID to enter the class. BUT, luckily someone had left the door open so I was able to get in. By then I was almost 15 minutes late. And it was a practical class. Two hours later, my phone died. And I actually had to make some important phone calls that day. By the time I reached home it was around 5pm and kind of dark. So I switched on the lights. The frikkin' light burst! It didn't just flicker off. It burst. Literally.

I miss my camera very much. I seriously need to start saving up for a new one. There are some things that you just HAVE to buy. A good camera is one of them for me.
